Come tutti i surrealisti, da Apollinaire in poi, Buñuel era innamorato del "divino"
e ne ha mostrato la profonda influenza in tutti, o quasi, i suoi film. Ne elenchiamo qui di seguito i principali:
Pasolini ha concluso la sua carriera (e la sua vita) dedicando un film all'opera piú famosa del Marchese e concludendo il ciclo dei "novellisti". "Saló" ha destato numerose critiche da diversi campi: principalmente i sadiani puristi, che non hanno gradito che Sade venisse associato con il fascismo/nazismo; i neo-fascisti o apologhi del regime per il motivo simmetricamente opposto; i benpensanti per la natura stessa, ecc. Qui di seguito propongo tre versanti critici:
